July 3,4 w Tibbitts

Image
It was so nice to be back w Tibbitts again and the bonus was that Hugo’s girlfriend Nira was there so I was able to meet and spend time getting to know her.  After a beautiful dinner and an octopus documentary/movie it was an early night to catch up on sleep. The next morning Melanie and I went out for breakfast to Cobbs to meet up w two of her gfs.   Above is fields of water cress which needs running chalk stream apparently to grow.  Kingsworthy used to have the chalk stream train which transported watercress from this area to London.  I remember mom growing watercress and having it in our salads and sandwiches. We then headed out w Hugo and Nira to Bournemouth and South Sea as Melanie had an osteopath appt.   We walked along the pier, enjoyed a gelato and then met Melanie for lunch at the Queens Hotel. The nicest washroom! Shout out to Queens Hotel and Cornish Orchards Cider for my favourite cider in England.    Could have been the atmosphere t...

July 2,3 Groundswell

Image
On my way to Groundswell, I had an extra 45 mins to wait for the  train, so I stopped for a coffee and smoothie at this cute shop in San Pancras Station.  I met a very nice older gentleman there and enjoyed a nice conversation.  He owns a place near Cork.  Groundswell was unbelievable, so fantastic.  I want to come back next year w Max and Mitch - they would have loved it.   I took the Thames Link train to Stevenage Station from San Pancras and then hopped in a taxi w some others for the 10 min drive to Lannock Farms. A nice vet I met was awarded the national dung beetle award.  I listened to her the next day on the dung beetle safari.  Just excellent. A young man John who  I sat next to at the Fieldon Whisky Banquet. On the way home to Tibbitts I had a one hour wait in Waterloo Station so the shout out of this post goes to the Well and Boot bar at the top of the escalator above the far end train platforms.   https://wellandboot.co.uk/...

Last Day before Groundswell

So today my highlights are: This bakery on Askew street is amazing and I would wake up early and have a morning tea and scone there before yoga class. Sonas yoga studio is just 10 mins walk from Cleo’s, just beside Wendel Park.  Highly recommend if you are in west London. Clean, cute and just excellent instructors.  The Pilates floor class on morning one woke up some muscles that had not been used for a bit lol.   I will pursue Pilates more when I am home that’s for sure.   Cleo and Anto are busy preparing for their big move to the country in Somerset at the end of July so I set out on foot as Serena suggested to walk along the river Thames and walk up from Hammersmith Bridge to Kings Road for a bit of a shop. As I walked through Ravenscourt Park it was close to 30 degrees and this kids pool was a happy place. The tide was out so the river was low but lots of house boats and long boats docked along the way. Hammersmith Bridge My third shout out of the day is Th...
