Acatanengo & Fuego Volcano Hike

Waiting for my tour van, outside hotel de los cabbelleros.  Purse from my fav store just up the street.
First stop on the trail w new friends Mitzuby from Panama and two sisters from Montreal.  Washroom 5q and ice cream coffee smoothies and crepes available.  Last photos of the climb up because stops were needed to catch breath and drink

Resting up w fellow “team wolf” hiker after reaching base camp at 430.
Mitzuby and I are so happy to be sitting in a chair
View from our chairs.
View of base camp
Heading out at 630pm  to climb north arm of Fuego.

Climbing Fuego w torches
View from Fuego north arm.
Tasty supper to end a very physically gruelling but exhilarating day. 17 km and 411 floors so my phone tells me.

Fuego erupting next morning we were standing on the top of the north arm the night before yikes!

Enjoying the morning sun before our descent.  Inside our hut
View in morning from the kitchen at base camp.
Social coordinator of team wolf is fellow Canadian Ed from Newfoundland.  Travelling w his step brother Mark from Venezuela…it’s a long story.

View of base camp before heading down and last stop of descent w team wolf members Mitzuby from Panama and young girl from Russia.  I enjoyed
Macadamia nut ice cream here and pondered whether my legs were going to give out before reaching the bottom.
