Day 12 and 13 Panajachel

I took these last two days to slow down and virtually do nothing.  I’ve started easing myself back into work preparing course outlines and yesterday I spent most of the aft evening assisting students via video to finish up assignments.

I had a wonderful Mani/pedicure on tues night for a 200q total ($32).  The salon was a tiny back room behind Selina’s w 2 metal chairs a sink and cement floor and a very antiquated massage table.  The aesthetician was so talented and did a better job than in most 5 star salons around Kamloops.  When I gave her a nice tip she just beamed from ear to ear.  $100 q is what the avg wage is here per day.

I finally found a great restaurant in Pana - Guajimbos-  so flavourful and healthy and huge portions.  I had a to go box sitting on the table with one of the chicken veggie skewers in it when a boy around 10 years old came up to sell me a fridge magnet.  His eyes told me he really needed the sale so I bought one at a good price for him, and as he was leaving he looked up and asked if he could have my to-go box w the kabob in it. My stomach was full and his was empty so of course I said yes.  I passed him as I was walking home and he was loving that dinner as he walked down the street feeling like he won the jackpot. That was nice.

I practised yoga every morning with Kirsten who is in above photo just before class at Selina’s yoga platform and beach front bar.  Kirsten is such a wonderful instructor and we will meet again in the future I’m sure - either in Canada or at one of her retreats in Columbia. When she’s not travelling she lives in Florida.

Views from my kayak yesterday mid-day.
Catarina who came to visit while I was working at a coffee shop having a bite of breakfast.  She had a 6 week old bambino snuggled in asleep on her back.  She works in the evenings on her loom and in the daytime she sells.  I brought this table cloth home w me and then she came by later to give me a bracelet to say thx.  She made me promise I would come back next year w my girlfriends.

Tomato and mozzarella stuffed croissant w latte.

Trying so darned hard to not drink beer today.
Last breakfast in Panajachel all decked out in my new wool scarf that Kirsten put me onto.  Very pleased w this purchase along w the hand loomed scarf from the textiles tour.  Just waiting at Selina’s to catch the shuttle back to Antigua.
