Day 9 Ometepe

I was up early this morning to have breakfast at Selina’s and head out for Ometepe, the large island in
Lake Nicauragua.

As I am writing this post I’m having an artesenal beer (that’s all they have here at this organic vegetarian yoga retreat called el pital)  and a side of potato wedges to hold me over till taco night actually happens.  lol.  The view is amazing from my table on the edge of the lake.

My breakfast at Selina’s this morn

Saying goodbye to our front desk person at Selina’s who works long hours - is fluent in English and has been helping me tons w my Español.

Leaving Granada

lk

Clips on the way to the ferry dock about 1.75 hours from Granada

On the way to the ferry dock my new guide had arranged for transportation on ometepe from ferry to el pital and then picking me up at 5 am Friday morn to take me to the base of conception volcano, the guide to take me on the 8 hour hike, and transport from there to the ferry fri aft and then on the other side back to Selina’s.  This young man is industrious and well connected.  lol.

On the ferry to Ometepe. At the dock I met a family from bc and the mom,dad and kids were from Smithers but the gramma Linda and her husband  were from Kamloops!  Had a nice visit.

Below are a few photos from around The grounds here at el pital.
Washrooms in the main lobby - everything is open air here.🙃

Main bar resto area - not much for OH but lots of smoothies and kombucha!

My private cabana ( I splurged for one night $69 us). But all open air so pretty warm.

Larger cabana

Looking back through the gardens to my cabana

The gardens are beautiful and picked fresh daily for the restaurant.

Last photo of the evening showing conception volcano in the background.  Hmmm 🤔 I signed up for that?
