Day 4 Cahersiveen to Waterville

To start the day we climbed the highest point of the Way’s coastal route - the summit of Knockavahaun at 371m.  Barb starting to let her hair down.

Me huffing and puffing as well.

The clouds soon moved in and we couldn’t see below is in any direction

The first wind turbines we have seen

Looking down towards Waterville

I loved the bracing on some of their fences - using materials at hand.

Another brace post w one strand electric - we are in cow country now- mostly Charolais and Simmental.

Very smart simple water trough w float (max and moo)

Today we overshot the route by a few km as the trail markers and map didn’t match up and of course we were aimlessly following the sign posts.  So after spending time trying to find our route by gps we used our common sense and found and followed a road going to Waterville.  Today we climbed 126 floors (it seemed like way way more - that can’t be right) and hiked 22 km.  Not too far but we were glad to see our fav pub The Villa Waterville. (O’Dwyer’s) Lots of character and the pub owner gave us a ride to our air bnb in his beautiful Mercedes.  Highly recommend staying in this hotel if we ever come back to Waterville.

Making ourselves at home in the pub - glad to have a spot to hang out jackets.

After having a rest at our Airbnb we headed back to town for some dinner and live local music at the Villa.
So much fun!  The wife of the owner (co owner) drove us home again at the end of the night - as there are no taxis or Ubers avail.  Big shout out to Dan and Fiona of The Villa in Waterville.
Hopefully we can take in some more live shenanigans tonight!
