Last Day in Auckland

My flight out wasn’t until 830 pm so I put my bags into the Haka House luggage storage and headed out for another yoga studio after breakfast, and a bit of work on my laptop.  At breakfast I met a nice young man from Mexico City who had completed his MSc in electrical engineering in Germany and had recently returned to Mexico.  I gave him my cooler bag and remaining food supplies as he had just arrived .  He was also interested in my blog for planning his trip so I sent it to him on what’s app- he got stuck right into it!   I then met another young man from Northport England who was living in Christchurch and launching a new dating app and speed dating service. Really enjoyed my visits w them both.

I made sure on choosing my yoga studio today that there was no infrared heaters in the photos online.  Crazy cool class though at the Yoga Academy.  The hatha class was like nothing I had done before.  A ton of props as you can see in photo below and the studio owner instructed all of the classes and was so so experienced and professional.  Lots of airflow w windows open and no heat- awesome.

After class it was 130 so I headed to the Sat market just off of the bottom of Queen Street for the best ever Turkish Street Food from Mumma Bears.  It was so good!  She uses all wholesome homemade ingredients and the highest quality olive oil.  She looks a bit tipsy in the photo but she wasn’t, she was so beautiful inside and out.

These were all the props needed for the hatha class at The Yoga Academy.
After my lamb and beef falfadel on a Turkish bun (omg it was good!)  I learned about two amazing innovative designers from here in NZ.
Allbirds is a new innovative brand which uses plant fibres to make their shoes- and their handbags and backpacks are all made w recycled materials.

Another NZ brand in handbags is Dead Ponies.  See below.

Okay, after a quick drink at Saint Alice, photo below…. Off I hiked an uphill push to Haka, grabbed my bags and headed to the airport.  Best place here I found for food and drink is Vantage Bar - top of the escalators.  Bartenders were perfect. Chili fried squid was amazing and gin presses hit the spot.  A nice nephrologist came and sat w me at the bar for a bit as he was heading home to New York.  We compared our NZ travel experiences as well as our lives back home and had a nice visit before he headed off for his gate.  As I write  this I’m just about to board.  Amazing trip that’s for sure.  I’m excited to get home though and give Max a break and love up my Sam dog.  I hear Janice has me snowshoeing up Cypress for a beer festival Sat afternoon.  I’m in!  Carol just recd her perm residency woot woot!!!! and her Canadian drivers license so she’s picking me up at the airport.  Hopefully she’s snowshoeing w us or at the very least driving up to Cypress to celebrate w us!  Woohoo Carol!

Viaduct Spritz at Saint Alice on the Viaduct.  Gin, pimms and Prosecco.  Pretty good.😊

Vantage bar w chili fried squid at Int airport right before the gates.
