Last night in Aukland

I woke up Friday morning at Haka House Aukland City and after breakfast I had to transfer my bags to Haka House K Road as I had mistakenly booked 2 different Haka Houses for each night.  I could have straightened it out and stayed put for my second night but I thought that the k road one but I had it in my mind that the k road one was more updated.  I was wrong.  But the atmosphere there in this old building had a great vibe AND they had upgraded me to my own private room!  Video below.

Here’s me in early afternoon before my H yoga class enjoying a view and a Rose from Hawks Bay at Dr Rudi’s on the Viaduct. 5 star.

After dropping off my bags at K Street Haka I headed to the domestic terminal to drop my car - and the Uber arrived in less than a minute- crazy great uber service here in Auckland.  He dropped me at the Auckland Viaduct area so I could check out the harbour Quay.  First off I decided to tour the maritime museum, which I highly recommend And brother Eric I thought of you constantly as I was walking through and wished I could have beamed you up!

Okay I left there and was hungry and thirsty so Dr Rudi’s was one great choice.  You never know until you are seated.  Service, food, ambiance was the best and as it became quite hot, the server brought over an umbrella for me - they are on top of their sun exposure here.  Loved Dr Rudi’s - highly recommend.

For some reason, thinking of my gf Sandee no doubt, I decided I had to try oysters before yoga so I went to the oyster and chop house for happy hour.  Photo above.   Quite disappointing I should have stayed put.

H Yoga was the hardest 90 minute Bikram class I have ever endured.  The instructor said at the beginning “all you have to do is not leave - that is your goal.”  I knew I was in trouble w 2 glasses of rose and some crappy gin happy hour drink under my belt.  I had to constantly go to the observer in my brain in order to make it.  Thank goodness Janice introduced me to the Buddha readings as I drew on them heavily during this session.  The yoga class the day before was child’s play compared to this.  I actually thought I was going to die from heat and lack of oxygen.  I cut my shavassanah short and headed for the door- never so happy to feel the rush of fresh cool air.

On leaving the instructor said that I had done really well- when I said that I had a happy hour stint before class- he said I was the toughest one in there.  His final parting words were - you’ve got a great body- don’t let it slip.  ðŸ˜‚ it was 9 pm and I went straight back to the hostel to hit the hay.
