First Day in Kilarney
We taxied from Camp to Tralee and then hopped on a bus to Kilarney, arriving mid day. We dropped our luggage off w Toni at the Larkinley Lodge and then walked to town for a look around. We shopped for a short while, then sat on the street at a few different spots enjoying our pints of Guinness then Bulmer’s cider for me and for Barb her ol’ fav Rockshore lager, and soaking up the sun watching the people walk by.
We had a bite of lunch at Murphys pub and then shared a burger later on for supper. Not sure now where lol. We planned to go back to Larkinley Lodge to clean up and get out of our hiking boots but we soon decided it wasn’t that important.
We started our night portion at Dunloe Lodge, as their live music started at 7ish. I met a nice middle age fam group up at the bar who grew up in the area and were back for a wedding. We enjoyed visiting w them and as they headed out they encouraged us to meet them at J.M. Readies, which is an old candy store turned into this adorable, filled w character bar. The one brother at the bar I met earlier remembers buying candy here as a young lad. The place kept on expanding like a network into an open air courtyard at the very back. There are more nooks and crannies off of the courtyard - a total of 4 different bars to buy drinks, and live music at the front as you walk in and another live band setting up as we arrived at the open air courtyard area at the back. The drink special? Spicy margaritas! Well my sunburnt lips were the only part of me that didn’t enjoy that drink - Barb stayed strong to her Cab Sav.
The young men behind us (top video) were in town from Wales on a golf trip. Northern Wales they said is full of lakes and great hiking. Just an fyi to keep in your back pocket.
John M Ready Bar from the outside - we voted it best bar in Kilarney and we tried a few.😎
