June 30, Sloane Square and Trasure House Fair

Henry, one of Jemima’s mates suggested I visit the Treasure House Fair today, which was on the grounds of the Royal hospital Chelsea.  So after an 8 am Pilates class at Sonas Studio, I headed out on the underground for Sloan Station on the district line.  Holy cow that’s a busy place.

After a second of deer in the headlights I got onto my Apple Maps and away I went.  Anto had informed me on the Royal Hospital Chelsea and it didn’t disappoint - and neither did the art fair.  It was amazing.

This photo is in front of Macconnell-Mason exhibit which was home to my two favorites from the show.  These Royal Chelsea pensioners give up their war pension as bachelors, to board on the grounds.  They are always dressed
In these scarlet uniforms.  I made the mistake of calling their uniforms red and I was kindly corrected.  They were so nice and actually invited me into the photo.

These 2 above were my favorite paintings from the fair and I could have brought them home for the equivalent of $250,000 each.  Anything under $100,000 they had the prices marked but not on these lol.  Also the carving below was spectacular.   https://www.butchoff.com/artwork detail/879043/19452/a-tremendous-black-forest-carved-dog

There was also a ton of antique furniture and contemporary furniture, jewelry, sculptures etc from all over the world. I thought of Lukas and Carol as they would have loved it.

After the Treasure House Fair I headed back to Sloan Square to get my bearings and then enjoyed a walk up Kings Road to Duke of York Square.  It was so hot out I stopped in there for a rest and a kombucha.  What a nice space this is with children playing in a small play area with water squirting up right beside their moms having drinks and on the other side is an upscale food market with a beautiful assortment of ready to eat foods.  Okay so I e been doing all this walking in my Birkenstock sandals that Nik gave me for my birthday well over 5 years ago (maybe even 10) My feet hurt.  On leaving the square I spotted an All Birds store across the street.  So exciting as I had read about this brand of shoes on the air New Zealand flight in Jan and then visited their store in Aukland.   https://allbirds.ca

They had a sale on!  So after a visit w the young salesman from Brazil, I bought a pair and a pair of flip flops for Nik.  They are so amazing, so comfortable and light and….made from plant ingredients.  They won the international sustainability award not long ago and are a new brand out of New Zealand.  Off I head back to Cleo’s wearing my new comfy shoes, my feet are happy.
