As I am writing this post I’m having an artesenal beer (that’s all they have here at this organic vegetarian yoga retreat called el pital)  and a side of potato wedges to hold me over till taco night actually happens.  lol.  The view is amazing from my table on the edge of the lake. My breakfast at Selina’s this morn  Saying goodbye to our front desk person at Selina’s who works long hours - is fluent in English and has been helping me tons w my Español. Day 7 & 8 at Selinas

Image
Monday I  worked most of the day w students in seminar.  I left for about an hour for a nice walk and lunch in the early aft at The Garden Cafe then came back to work until late afternoon.  Then 6 pm yoga at ElPure gym and back to Selina’s for a snack and bed.   Looking back up centre street from the lake which I never quite got to on Monday. Tuesday was a busy day in co work w so many teams meetings popping up that I munched on some almonds from my pack for lunch.  About 4 pm I’d had enough sitting and headed out to see if I could actually reach the lake - I made it and along centre st I met Todd from Kamloops who lives in Granada.   Arrived at the edge of lake Nicauragua.   On my way back, these girls were running a young female artist concept store so I bought one of their tshirts to support the cause and part of the deal is they wanted a photo to document the power of women helping each other. After yoga I was starving so I headed to Pita Pita for ...

Day 6 Laguna Beach

Image
Sunday March 17 - Tates birthday today🥳.   Laguna Beach was super fun- a really nice bunch from Selina’s all hopped in the van and it was approx 45 mins to the beach.  I spent most of the day swimming and paddle boarding w Chelsey who I met  at breakfast. By 2 pm I’d had enough sun so I headed up to the resto bar area to have some lunch and a cerveza.  Well… before long Chelsey arrived and ordered some tequila shots and everyone started having a good visit.  The van picked us at 4 pm to head back to Selina’s - whew! Above photo is just before leaving Laguna. Back at Selina’s the visiting carried on and our bar staff there makes the best ever Moscow Mules - it was a super fun evening of visiting.  My roommate Flavia from Romania took me to a great Pizzarea (tele pizza) she had found for dinner.  So that was a nice end to the day.   Our wonderful bartenders at Selina’s. Chelsea, myself, Flavia and Mo having a visit back at Selina’s.  Mo,...

Days 4 and 5 San Juan Del Sur

Image
Day 4 I took a 2 hour shuttle to San Juan del Sur.  We arrived at 240 pm and I had missed the shuttle to The Space” where I was staying by 10 mins. So I had 3 hours to look around.  I left my pack in a back room at the restaurant and after a mojito decided to go for a walk along the beach strip.  I stopped at a few bar/restos along the strip and tested mojitos at each spot.  Well that made the wait go faster!  A small town w beach/surfer vibe but I think most surfers head further north. A few young locals who were having fun w me at one of the bars. The above three photos are all of ikal rest/bar which placed a hard 3rd on my Mohito tour but their quacamole made up for it. View from my shuttle on the way to the hostel. Finally checked into the space!   At 830 am I was up and ready for yoga and then spent the day in student meetings and grading in cowork area.  The beauty about this place is the cowork space, the infinity pool which is narrow but ...

Yesterday was Mitchell Brian’s 30 th birthday. Happy birthday Moo!  When I spoke w him he had spent the day working on his excavator 😞I hope tomorrow you can take the day for yourself. The best part of my day was a visit w him on the phone. ❤️ Today is Annie Margaret’s first birthday!  Happy birthday baby girl!🥳  I will call you shortly and can’t wait to see you again soon!  ❤️❤️❤️ Ok back to my updates: On Tuesday I spent most of the day in the co work room and theatre room as it was seminar day and grading.  At 430, sitting up on the same barstool where I have breakfast, the bartender brought me the best mojito of my life hands down - w picito sucre. A view of the “Pure” gym lounge area where the yoga studio is located The view from Selina’s front steps looking at town Centro park …in the afternoons the carriages all line up here. It was happy hour so another one shortly followed and a bit tipsy me headed off to flow yoga about a 15 min walk from Selin...

First Day in Granada

Image
A view from the bell tower of Granada cathedral.  Hi everyone well I arrived safe and sound!  It’s 430pm local time, (330 pm bc time) and I’m sitting beside the bar at Selina’s sipping on a vodka soda which is very much hitting the spot.  I ordered vodka as it is 70 cordobas ($2.59 can and it was also 2 for 1 happy hour!) A gin and tonic is $400 cordoba and a local cerveza is $110 cordobas at Selina’s.  I’ll be buying cerveza at the corner store I think. 🤔  It is taco monday so 3 tacos for equivalent of 2$ Can and they were nothing short of amazing!  (I was pretty hungry too). Ok enough on food and drink. Typical breakfast is inc at Selina’s AND I am now enjoying americano with no cream!  Coffee is So great here I just don’t even need cream - huge breakthrough! Our flight arrived late and customs was a slow go so my transportation from Managua to Granada was no where to be found (45 min drive)… a bit scary but I  hopped in w a young cab driver wh...
